Divorce and Family Mediation

Divorce is life-altering for families and conflict that is unresolved haunts the lives of adults and children for years to come. Since 1990, Marie has worked with divorcing and divorced adults assisting them in many ways, such as:

  • Improving communication around parenting and related issues

  • Developing parenting plans

  • Resolving issues related to children

  • Negotiating difficult topics like finances or who will move out of the house

Family members also choose mediation if conflict arises over such issues as:

  • Wedding Plans

  • Settlement of finances

  • Decisions about family activities

  • Sometimes adult siblings can't get along and need a professional setting to clear the air and bring issues out in the open.

  • For younger siblings and their parent or stepparents, family meetings can be conducted as a model to be replicated at home.

  • Funeral arrangements and settlement of wills.

Marriage Counseling

Couples who want to enhance their marriage or recognize that their marriage has been on cruise control are ready for a tune-up. Improvement in couple communication is a basic component of marital satisfaction and new skills can be learned. Some marriages are too focused on the children or career advancement and changes need to be made.

All marriages need opportunities for growth and development. Couples can strengthen and deepen their partnership at any stage along the way.

Come early in your marriage and then as needed along the way!

Divorce Coach

Marriage closure sessions can help partners to divorce with fairness, compassion and justice. Parents can also be helped to focus on strengthening their parenting partnership for the sake of their children.

Collaborative Family Relations Practice

What is this?

Collaborative Attorneys invite divorcing individuals to sign contracts with them in which they pledge never to go to court. A mental health professional is often included in the process. In addition to assisting adults seeking help, a person skilled in working out parenting plans and aware of developmental issues for children, recognizes the profound effect of conflict on children. The collaborative group wants parents to have the help they need to divorce with dignity and in the best interests of their children.
